This one's lovely, the lyrics match wonderfully with the instrumental. It's like being adrift for a couple of minutes.

floorboardofficial responds:

Thanks for the feedback, Bitbeak! Much appreciated!

Poppy isn’t inherently a bad thing. I think I’d be more inclined to nit pick that it’s a bit one note. Like the singing is mostly in the same tone (especially on the chorus) and the instrumental is similar in that regard.

That said, the production is really, really clean. It’s a nicely made track overall and you handle the transitioning from part to part well.

floorboardofficial responds:

Yes, it is horrendously monotonous! I don’t think I even knew what dynamics were back then hahaha. But hey I appreciate your compliments on the production! And you’re right, poppy isn’t inherently a bad thing, but boy do I cringe at the songwriting nowadays. Thanks for giving it a listen though, and big thanks for the feedback!

Instrumental’s got a strooonnngg death cab vibe. I’m not the biggest fan of the vocal treatment but that’s just my taste I guess.

Lyrically and thematically, I’m a fan. It’s a pleasant sort of longing i get from it.

floorboardofficial responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I did figure that the vocals on this would be a hit or miss kinda deal. Some people seem to like it, others not so much. I was aiming for a robotic feel to promote a sense of dissociation, but there are better ways to do it (over dubs, high-rate phasing, tape effects, glitch effects, etc). This was essentially my first song though, so I just didn’t have the production arsenal at the time. But hey, I certainly won’t complain about a death cab vibe, and I’m glad you enjoyed it thematically hahaha. Thanks for listening!

A little busy maybe in the high end, but I do really like how you handled the break in the middle. It's got a nice up beat and triumphant kind of tone to the whole thing.

JamesHeart responds:

yeah its kind of messy... I was testing my Moog Theremini and this was the result of a jam session using it

Interesting hearing some of your older stuff. Kinda groovy. Really like the combo of textures when the two guitar parts come together towards the latter half.

Also, Soundcloud is garbage haha

popolamusic responds:

It sure is. Did you know it's cheaper to put all your music on every distribution platformer known to man than it is to buy a month of Soundcloud Premium?

Well this is lovely. Cute and positive vibes for days from this track :)

Has the feel of something pogo would make.

Vista-Sound13 responds:

Not sure who 'Pogo' is, but he sounds like a nice producer. Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed this track, so thanks, my friend! :D

That acoustic layered over electric chords is heavenly.

Journey of a build up too, pairs well with the story your telling with the lyrics. A couple of beat/tempo inconsistencies aside, pretty well produced over all.

Nice track, man. You’re a great story teller.

ConnorDeVaux responds:

Thanks! Yeah I ran outta time for fixing the inconsistencies, I still wanna but it'll probably be a bit before I can. The song is about my mother, thanks again

Getting some strong B Fleischmann vibes. Really chill and great playing as always.

popolamusic responds:

Thanks so much man. Haven't forgotten about our thing btw!

Love the dissonance. The pianos lend it kind of a Dan Deacon like sound and it all combines really nicely with the jittery percussion.

JamesHeart responds:

Dan Deacon is a huge inspiration to me so that's a super cool comparison!!

im glad this hits the spot ^^

Gorgeous track, and my god what a title.

cribble responds:

It's a loaded title!
